My ex wife and I had 2 sessions together at Drummond Street and one each alone before then to talk about how we parent post separation. We had done a couple of mediation sessions elsewhere 2 years ago not long after we separated which had been helpful but since then we have both met other people, our kids are now older and we had to try to work out a better way of keeping everyone happy. Not easy! At least my ex and I can actually talk to each other if we stick to a business like arrangement so we were able to have a discussion with the counsellor about improving the living arrangements for the kids. It was a bit less formal than mediation and we didn’t talk about financial stuff but we also did not get into our past troubles we kept the focus on how the kids are going. This was a one off, like a top up to the mediation we did. The fact we have moved on with our lives meant that we weren’t half as angry with each other though we aren’t exactly “friends”; it was just good to talk about things properly, rather than at the front door.
